Dirty Dancing
“No-one puts Baby in the corner”
This movie is the inspo for MANY a bridal dance. And the foundation for disappointment when your ‘bad boy’ boyfriend can’t lift you over his head like Patrick Swayze.
You’ll have the time of your life watching Baby and Johnny have a summer fling destined for disaster.
Footloose
So much teenage rebellion in the 80s!
This very popular film is based on the premise that dancing is corrupting the town’s youth and has been banned.
But no one can stop Kevin Bacon from getting his groove on, and teaching a town to boogie 80s style while he’s at it.
Silly and fun – and so classically 80s.
The Breakfast Club
One of the best movies from the 80s (fight me) where a bunch of teens; a goth (apparently), a jock, a rebel, a nerd and a preppy girl are all thrust together in detention and find out that although they’re very different, they’re actually all the same.
As I write this I have my fist in the air in salute to Judd Nelson.
This is John Hughes at this best.
Die Hard
John McLean just wants to save his wife (and Christmas) from the clutches of German terrorists.
Bruce Willis is at his absolute best in this franchise and they’ve held up fairly well.
We cannot stress this enough – this IS a Christmas movie. Just not really for kids.
