Ana de Armas stars as Marilyn Monroe in the racy new biopic on Netflix
Netflix has given us our very first look at the new Marilyn Monroe film by Andrew Dominik, which has already gathered quite a bit of controversy before even hitting screens.
The film will star Ana de Armas (Knives Out, No Time To Die), and by the looks of the trailer, she’s set to hauntingly depict one of Hollywood’s most prominent icons with an uncanny likeness.

Blonde is based on the best-selling novel by Joyce Carol Oates and aims to reimagine the life of Monroe from her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements.
The movie has already achieved a rare NC-17 rating for sexual and graphic content, setting the tone for what looks to be a very confronting and unflinching look behind the scenes, blurring the lines of fact and fiction.
“Andrew’s ambitions were very clear from the start — to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens,” said de Armas. “He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic, and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”
Dominik stressed that like Oates novel, the film is a work of fiction, but said he won’t be shying away from anything.
“She’s deeply traumatized, and that trauma necessitates a split between a public self and a private self, which is the story of everyone, but with a famous person, that often plays out publicly, in ways that may cause additional trauma,” he told Netflix Queue.
