Plot
“Man of Steel” begins with a detailed look at Superman’s origins on the doomed planet Krypton, introducing his parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, who make the heartbreaking decision to send their infant son to Earth to escape Krypton’s destruction. Cast
Henry Cavill arguably the best Superman to date dons the cape as Clark Kent/Superman. Amy Adams stars as Lois Lane, a fearless journalist who becomes Clark’s ally and confidante, adding a dynamic layer to their evolving relationship. Michael Shannon portrays the antagonist, General Zod, with intense conviction, creating a formidable foe for Superman. The cast also includes Russell Crowe, whose portrayal of Jor-El adds a majestic, yet poignant dimension to Superman’s backstory.
Reviews
Much like Batman until the Dark Knight, fans of Superman have been longing for a reboot to do the most powerful superhero justice. Upon its release, “Man of Steel” received mixed reviews, on Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 75% Audience Score however the critics have registered a less than faltering 54% highlighting its polarising nature, with some praising its fresh take on Superman’s lore, while others criticised its heavy use of CGI and darker tone.
Over at IMDb with 800,000 reviews, “Man of Steel” has scored 7.1/10, showcasing a more favourable reception from general audiences who appreciated the reboot of such an iconic superhero.
