The world’s first demon-hunting girl group is crossing dimensions — literally.
After lighting up Netflix in KPop Demon Hunters and topping global music charts, the fictional K-pop trio HUNTR/X is stepping out of the screen and onto the stage. On October 7, the singers behind the group’s breakout hit Golden will perform it live for the first time ever on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
It’s a bold move. Animated characters becoming pop stars isn’t new — but a full performance by real singers playing fictional idols, backed by actual Billboard No. 1s? That’s uncharted territory.
The Group That Started As Fiction
In KPop Demon Hunters, HUNTR/X is a high-gloss, high-stakes K-pop group made up of three idols: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. By day, they dominate charts. By night, they battle demonic forces threatening the balance between worlds. Think Sailor Moon meets Blackpink, with a dash of Buffy the Vampire Slayer energy.
The film, released on Netflix earlier this year, became a streaming juggernaut — racking up over 325 million views in 91 days, making it one of the platform’s most-watched animated titles ever.
But the unexpected breakout wasn’t the plot — it was the music.
“Golden” Changed Everything
Released July 4 via Republic Records, Golden quickly outgrew its movie soundtrack status and became a global phenomenon. It’s a blistering, bilingual banger — part K-pop anthem, part emotional ballad, wrapped in trap beats and soaring choruses.
And it didn’t just sound like a hit. It was a hit.
- It hit #1 on the Billboard Global 200, Global Excl. U.S., and the Billboard Hot 100.
- It became the first track by a fictional group to top the UK Official Singles Chart since “Gangnam Style.”
- It held the longest No. 1 run ever by an animated act in UK chart history.
Fans didn’t just listen. They bought in — hard. TikTok trends, fancams, fan art, translated lyrics, fake tour posters — HUNTR/X became a fully formed fandom in record time.
The First-Ever Live Performance
Now, that fandom is getting a major reward. On October 7, the three vocalists behind HUNTR/X — EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami — will perform Golden live on The Tonight Show. It’s the group’s first real-world appearance, and it’ll stream the following day on Peacock.
This isn’t a typical TV tie-in. It’s not the animated characters dancing behind a screen. These are the artists — the actual voices of HUNTR/X — singing live, stepping into their roles, and bringing a digital phenomenon into the real world.
That performance will also be paired with an interview on Fallon’s couch — giving fans a glimpse into the artists who powered the pop culture moment.
Meet the Voices Behind HUNTR/X
Each member of HUNTR/X is voiced by a distinct singer with their own rising career. Here’s who’s stepping up to the mic:
EJAE – Voice of Rumi
A powerhouse singer-songwriter from South Korea, EJAE has built a name writing for major artists while developing her own smooth, emotive sound. Known for her work behind the scenes with K-pop stars, she now finds herself centre stage as the voice of Rumi — the group’s confident, big-voiced leader. Her vocal style blends melodic clarity with a sense of quiet strength.
Audrey Nuna – Voice of Mira
New Jersey-born Korean-American artist Audrey Nuna is already on the radar for her genre-defying fusion of R&B, trap, and alt-pop. Her breakout single damn Right made waves in 2021, and she’s been a critical favourite ever since. As Mira, Audrey brings edge, swagger, and an unpredictable vocal texture that cuts through the group’s sound.
Rei Ami – Voice of Zoey
With a moniker inspired by anime (Rei from Evangelion + Ami from Sailor Moon), Rei Ami was always destined for something this meta. Born in South Korea and raised in the U.S., she’s known for flipping between sweet vocals and aggressive flows in tracks like DICTATOR. As Zoey, she brings the group’s wild card energy — emotional, expressive, and raw.
Together, they’re not just mimicking K-pop idols — they’re building a new kind of group: part-fiction, all-functioning, and now officially live.
What’s Next?
There’s no official word yet on a tour, album, or second film. But with Golden still charting and HUNTR/X’s fanbase only growing, the momentum is real.
What we do know? All eyes are on October 7.
