Squid Game 2 has been officially confirmed by Netflix
It’s the news fans of the show have been expecting made official by Netflix: Squid Game will return for a second season.
Squid Game has gone down as one of the most successful shows ever to hit the platform and after plenty of hints and anticipation writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk gave it the green light in a letter to fans.
“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” Hwang wrote, “And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.”

There’s no actual word on a plot yet or a potential release date, but Hwang’s statement does give a few clues as to what we can expect, including the return of central protagonist Seong Gi-hun and masked antagonist the Front Man. Oh, and we’ll be meeting the boyfriend of Young-hee; she’s the giant killer animatronic doll from the Red Light, Green Light game. You can only imagine what he’ll be bringing to the table…
