Here’s all we know so far about Dead to Me Season 3
After a tremendous cliffhanger ending in the last season of Dead to Me, all fans are beyond excited to know the details about the upcoming season.
Dead to Me is a series about an unexpected friendship between two women (Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini), filled with humor and shocking secrets. The Netflix original was a huge success, remaining among the most-watched comedy series of the platform and reaching a remarkably large audience of over 30 million viewers worldwide with its first season.
In June 2020 Netflix announced that the third season of Dead to Me was confirmed, but it would also be the final season.
After the final season was confirmed, star of the show Christina Applegate shared the news with a message for the fellow cast members and fans:
The creator of the show, Liz Feldman, told Deadline back in 2020 that the show wasn’t really planned to be a “long long-running show”.
Even though we won’t be seeing more than 3 seasons of Dead to Me, Feldman signed an overall deal with Netflix, giving us the chance to watch any future projects of the creator. No other projects have been announced yet, but we surely would like to see more of Feldman’s work in the future.
Filming and possible release dates
In January 2021 we learned that filming was scheduled to begin early this year. However, the global pandemic situation caused the dates to be postponed.
Since May 10th, 2021 filming has officially started and is expected to be over by August 2nd, 2021.
We were able to get a sneak peek of the set through a picture shared by Christina Applegate on her Instagram account.
So far, we don’t have an official release date, but we hope that we’ll be able to watch the upcoming final season by the end of 2021 or possibly at the beginning of 2022.
What to expect from the upcoming season
Spoilers! To comment on what to expect from Dead to Me season 3, we’ll need to deal with a few spoilers from season 2
We already mentioned a dramatic cliffhanger ending in the last episode of season 2, and that’s precisely one of the things that are keeping fans anxious: the car crash.
We’re still not sure if Ben realized that he crashed his car into Jen and Judy, but we know he drove away. If the pair of friends learn that Ben was the drunk driver that ran through a stop sign and caused the accident, we can expect an unpleasant confrontation between these characters.
Cast members for the upcoming season
Dead to Me will still show us a lot more of Jen and Judy, so Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are confirmed names for the upcoming season.
We can also expect to see Sam McCarthy as Charlie Harding, Luke Roessler as Henry Harding and James Marsden as Steve Wood and his semi-identical twin brother, Ben Wood.
Other names that are expected to return are Diana Maria Riva as Detective Ana Perez, Max Jenkins as Christopher Doyle, and Brandon Scott as Nick Prager.
We most certainly are sad to know that the upcoming season of this successful series will be the last one, but we are also super excited to see how the story will end!
