“The Beach Boys,” a brand-new documentary, starts streaming exclusively on Disney+ on May 24, 2024.
“The Beach Boys” celebrates the legendary band that transformed pop music with their iconic, harmonious sounds that epitomised the California dream, enchanting fans across multiple generations.
The Disney+ documentary offers a journey from their modest family origins and includes rare footage and fresh interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston. It also features insights from music industry stars like Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was. The narrative includes personal accounts from Carl and Dennis Wilson, a new conversation with Blondie Chaplin, and audio from Ricky Fataar. Produced by Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures, the film is directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny and written by Mark Monroe. Producers include Frank Marshall, Irving Azoff, Nicholas Ferrall, and others, with several noted executives serving as executive producers.
Brian Wilson expressed his satisfaction with the documentary, stating, “I’m super happy with how the documentary turned out; they did an amazing job. It really brought me back to those days with the boys, the fun, the music, and of course, those incredible harmonies.”

The official soundtrack, “The Beach Boys: Music From The Documentary,” will be available for streaming and download starting May 24 through Capitol/UMe.
Additionally, the band’s celebrated 1964 album “Shut Down, Vol. 2” is now reissued on limited edition blue and white marble vinyl as of March 29. The group’s only official book, “The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys,” was released on April 2 by Genesis Publications.
