Brace yourselves, Marvel fans — the long-anticipated sight has finally arrived. Ever since the dawn of the new millennium, when the first X-Men film hit the silver screen, viewers were teased about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, aka Logan, sporting the iconic yellow and blue ensemble – a throwback to the original comic book attire.
Remember that famous exchange between Jackman’s Wolverine and James Marsden’s Cyclops, lamenting the discomfort of their black leather suits? “What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?” Marsden quipped. This was a clever allusion to the classic comic book and animated series’ wardrobe, complete with the snug yellow costumes punctuated with vibrant blue accents.
Watch: What would you prefer, yellow spandex?
In subsequent films, the X-Men attire evolved to mirror the comic book aesthetic more closely, with “First Class” and “Dark Phoenix” showing off variations of the classic yellow theme. However, Wolverine never fully embraced that particular look on screen.
Until now, that is. After an apparent farewell in “Logan,” Jackman’s Wolverine is back in action for “Deadpool 3,” reuniting him with his “X-Men: Origins – Wolverine” co-star, Ryan Reynolds.
The vibrant yellow suit, the striking blue boots, and that quintessential wild hairstyle — it’s all there — well except the mask.
Production for Deadpool 3 has just begun, under the expert direction of Shawn Levy, the creative mind behind “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project.” This will mark Deadpool’s inaugural entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), produced by none other than Kevin Feige.
Deadpool 3 Plot
While there has been no official Deadpool 3 plot announced — you might remember that in Deadpool 2 Wade ends up with Cables time machine. The plot for Deadpool 3 has been rumoured that Wade will use Cable’s time machine and travel into the future to save Wolverine.
Reports also suggest that the film will retain its R-rated edginess, and it seems that Deadpool might also be bringing along some familiar faces from the Fox universe, with rumours of Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra.
Deadpool 3 Release Date
The official release date for Deadpool 3 is May 3, 2024.
The return of Wolverine after his flawless exit in “Logan” raises high expectations, but the fans are hoping that the reprisal will be well worth it.
