Black Mirror season 6 is confirmed to be in the works after a long wait
After almost three years since season 5, a new season of Black Mirror has been confirmed for Netflix.
The dark sci-fi and sometimes scarily accurate drama captured attention from its first release, with episodes each taking on a new storyline that explored the dark side of technology in a futuristic fashion. It made many question their phones and social media use, and the weird and whacky nature of each shocking story had viewers hooked from start to finish.
We don’t know too much about the new season, but here’s what we do know:
What’s happening in Black Mirror Season 6?
Although details are a little fuzzy right now, it’s confirmed that we will get a season 6, and it will have more episodes than the previous three instalments from season 5.
Specific storylines are being kept under lock, but sources say the season is treating each episode as ‘an individual film’ with a more cinematic scope.
You might also be aware that creators Charlie Booker and Annabel Jones left the production company that owns the Black Mirror rights, but their new company (Broke & Bones) has reached a deal with the rightsholder to license the show to Netflix- so they’ll still be involved.
We don’t yet know who will be involved either, but casting is reportedly underway and we can assume to see some new faces given the anthology has so far hosted a mix of different actors every season. Season 5 saw Miley Cyrus take on a starring role, so can we expect more big names this time round?
Black Mirror Season 6 release date?
No, not yet. We may have to wait a while for a confirmed release date, considering they’ve only just started casting – watch this space!
